Facebook Advantage and Disadvantages

Facebook Advantage and Disadvantages-Pantages

Facebook - a popular name among those who are so into it. Individuals who have an account in Facebook are now using more of their time to socialize with other people amidst the distance and lack of time. And even if a community like Facebook serves numerous advantages, it also proves to have certain disadvantages as well. There are now series of improvements in the system just to make up with the shortcomings. Arguments regarding the different advantages and disadvantages of Facebook are stated below.

Pantages

Advantages
· Allows user search for new and old friends
· Accessible to chosen universities having a high level of security
· Makes it less awkward when communicating with strangers or people you are not familiar with
· Love attraction - can be used as a dating service system
· Makes it easier to join groups having similar likes and dislikes
· Allows members to check students who are taking the same class, living within the same area, or coming from the same academy

Disadvantages
· Overcrowding
· Weakening long distance relationship
· Unsupported by physical adjacency
· Contributes wide-range procrastination
· Rampant addiction
· Stalking is possible
· Acquaintances be labeled as friends

Surely, the disadvantages don't pose a threat to you just by merely looking at it. Someone else has to prove that what users do with their profile is directly in proportion with what can happen to them. A user must understand what he is trying to give out otherwise things might get messy and people will mistook them as someone else.

It is quite obvious that a trade off is happening between the advantages and disadvantages of Facebook. While it increases the communication and connection between friends and the online community it also increases the risk of procrastination and makes it easier for others to stalk a user. Worse, some are actually punished for what they put on their profile and would claim that it was there only for fun.

Despite the above mentioned advantages and disadvantages of an online networking service, it still is gaining demand and popularity among the young crowd. There are about 10,000 students (professionals and young professionals not yet included) who are joining into Facebook every day. This is regardless of the age, race and country. Some are now trying to criticize the status of professionalism of this site whether it's just another fad like other online networking services are.

Words That End With the Letter Q? Well Maybe Just a Few

Words That End With the Letter Q? Well Maybe Just a Few-Avenue Q

~~*~~
Words that end with the letter Q?
There are no words that end with the letter Q
You.. silly QUasimoto!
I need them for Scrapple as well
but alas
checking under every cover
every avenue to discovery
my dictionary
my google friend
no, no, no!
A Q cannot be the end.

Avenue Q

Q is not a lonely letter
It loves to cuddle with a U
it finds one every chance it gets
no regrets
and wakes up in the morning
still cozy
next to its loyal lover.

So no lamenting for this letter Q
YOU.. silly QUasimoto.

And by the way
speaking of Q's
a cue to you
what is a QUasimoto
today on the scene?
Not a hunchback character
It's urban talk you see
an alter ego
of a high pitched rapper
spaced out
on stoned beats
singing in the streets.

Ahh me
it is all as silly as it can be
the Q in QUasimoto
lending me reason
if not a rhyme in time
selected from my imagination.
Sitting at my station
waiting for my Q to bring
not a single thing
but a U
'cause its a wonderful thing
to sing
of all the virtues U does bring
to a Q
in this dream.
I now seem to know it quite well
by my expression here
becoming QUite clear
in this QUriky poem
that sings alone for Q.

I have never met a U
that I did not find intriguing.
Yet I confess
I have often grown weary of them.
U, Ewe, You
must the subject always be so one sided?
I find myself saying
QUit it U
enough of YOU!
...and by the way
what ever happened to your oft seen companion
that dear sweet letter Q?

Yes, try to remember Q.
Humm U?
Does Q tire of your self absorbed conversations?
Never!
Sadly for Q it is true U
You do not need Q!
I see you
roaming about without Q
all the time!
But just remember U
you DO indeed need Q
to say,
"You silly QUasimoto."

So back to my travail
the Q that must always have a tail.
It alas is understood
Q never stands alone.
No matter how you've grown
you will always find a home
with other friends
that help you or ewe or U
to end this silly QUasimoto story.

You Q
will always finds a special glory
in a QUasimoto story
who will always see the value
in a U
a U that must be humbled
because it needs you, Q!

Words that end with the letter Q?
NO.. they simply don't exist!
Well...maybe just a few.

From Vaudeville to the Academy Awards - Pantages Theaters Shine On

From Vaudeville to the Academy Awards - Pantages Theaters Shine On

The founder of the Pantages "empire" was born Pericles Pantages, but having great admiration for Alexander the Great, he changed his first name, not without some evidence of foresight! His first theatre was built in 1914 in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the showcasing of vaudeville acts, and Alexander Pantages the Greek entrepreneur began his Vaudeville Circuit.

Before he stopped building, there were 500 Pantages 'playhouses' on the circuit, ranging from Canada to the whole of the United States west of the Mississippi River. Most have fallen into neglect and decay, but a few shining examples carry on the Pantages name. In Minneapolis in 1916 the Pantages was the first public building in the city to be 'air conditioned', with ice as the coolant. For future reference, this one cost about ,000 to build! Among the few that have survived in splendor through the economic swings of the intervening years are the theatres in Toronto, Canada and in Tacoma, Washington.

The last theatre ever built by Alexander Pantages is the one which still occupies its favored site at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood, U.S.A. Like all the other theatres, this one was designed to house Pantages Vaudeville acts, but by then the shows offered were a mixture of live acts and the then-emerging "talkies" or moving pictures with sound. Due to the Great Depression, cutbacks had to be made, and the theatre cut back on live shows to offer mostly first run movies.

A widely publicized trial in 1929 led to the downfall of the 'Pantages Empire'. He sold everything at rock- bottom -dollar and died soon after. In 1949 it became the RKO Pantages when Howard Hughes bought it and made it part of his corporation. The theatre took on added glamour in the 1950's as it hosted the Academy Award Ceremonies for 10 years. It was also host to such grand openings as Judy Garland's A Star Is Born, and many other glittering events. When it closed as a movie theatre in 1977 and re-opened with the stage show Bubbling Brown Sugar, its course was pretty well charted.

The Los Angeles Pantages Theatre is a world-famous example of Art Deco architecture, and it is capable of hosting theatrical extravaganzas as well as rock concerts and, of course, the star-studded Academy Awards. The interior d'cor alone is enough to elicit awe-struck admiration. Since its operation was taken over by the Nederlander Organization, more than million has been invested in re-creating and improving the original grandeur and comfort of this Hollywood landmark.

Since the Los Angeles Pantages was built in 1929 for a 'mere' .25 million, it has paid for itself a few times! The Lion King alone, in its more than two-year run from 2000 to 2003, brought in over 2 million. Tickets to the Pantages in L.A. offer more than just the show on stage, too. Visitors can just sit back in luxurious comfort and marvel at the glorious display of architecture and stunning decor - gold leaf included!

The theatre has been host to many of the most spectacular and thrilling performances, both theatrical and musical, that the world has ever seen on stage. It is a favorite location for the filming of movie scenes, and has even hosted rock concerts. It also has the prestige of having been the site of five of the highest-grossing weeks in all of L.A.'s entertainment history.

The Los Angeles Pantages continues to make history to this day. It is currently offering Phantom of the Opera, incidentally the longest-running play in the history of theatrical productions. In coming months, fortunate theatregoers will be able to procure tickets to such gems as Grease, Rain, Mamma Mia! and Rent.

Anyone who appreciates the mix of art and glamour embodied in the Los Angeles Pantages (or incidentally is hoping to gain office space in this epicenter of entertainment) will be thrilled with the latest news. The theatre was originally intended to have 12 stories, with office space on the upper floors. Construction was halted, like many other projects, by the onset of the Great Depression, but plans are underway to complete the design as it was meant to be. Something to look forward to, indeed!

Don't Give Up on La's Metro Rail Services

Don't Give Up on La's Metro Rail Services

My preferred route from downtown Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles is the La Metro Rail Blue Line. I pay .25 for a one-way trip, for a day pass, and an added speculation point-to-point of colse to 45 minutes. That de facto returns an Roi of +25 minutes while the evening, as the commute via rail is nearly half the time as driving on the 710 or 110 freeways.

Most of the Blue Line riders are blue collar workers, with a few professionals - such as myself - peppering the platforms in the Long Beach area. The Blue Line route takes you straight through some of the more renowned (or notorious) sections of Los Angeles, including Artesia, Compton, Watts, and So. Central La.

In 5 years riding the Blue Line I have never seen an incident of misconduct, other than the occasional over-zealous sheriff deputy asserting himself as a combat-ready ticket checker, ensuring no miscreant tourist has dared climb the train platform without having paid their fare.

All-in-all the La Metro Blue Line is convenient, low-cost transportation serving the needs of Long Beach and South Los Angeles Country workers and commuters.

Each day La Metro rail services carry colse to 300,000 riders, with very exiguous drama compared to other large city transit systems. If you add Metro Bus Services, that number bounces up to colse to 1.6 million riders each day, making it the third largest social transportation law in the United States.

About once a year you have an emergency piquant a bus or rail car which results in a serious injury or death. Thus, if you believe in averages, one someone in colse to 584 million passengers will be in danger of death or serious injury using Los Angeles County social transportation.

Compare this to the road and freeway system, where the California Highway Patrol site lists an median of colse to 60 serious traffic accidents (injuries) each day in the La County area. To the credit of Los Angeles, the police do inflict strict jay-walking laws, limiting the number of pedestrian accidents in busy intersections.

The modern tragic accidents on the Washington Dc Metro highlights the scale and violence of a train collision. Nine population died, and many more seriously injured. Tragic. And since the collision was head-on, it likely had human error as the cause. Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty described the Monday evening collision as "the deadliest in the subway system's 33-year history." (Afp)

Even with this globally viewed event, and the violent images displayed, metro rail and bus transit is a good thing. Metro moves a astronomical number of people, for a very inexpensive cost, with very good frequency. Metro is environmentally sound, using electricity and Cng (compressed natural gas) for fuel. Metro rail is good for the population of Los Angeles, the city, and our high-priced So Cal environment.

Let's not use Washington Dc's tragic event to affect or sway our reliance in the La Metro. Rather let's continue to join our efforts to encourage development, construction, and use of social mass transit systems. We will form safer, more efficient, and more piquant trains and buses, even in a city with a customary love affair with the automobile.

My Favorite Broadway Shows

My Favorite Broadway Shows

There was never any doubt about the popularity of Broadway Shows and people never seem to tire of these. The reason can be attributed to the unique experience that it offers. It is a rare combination of musicals, concerts and plays. The experience of watching a Broadway show is beyond anybody's imagination. Some of the greatest Broadways Shows are as follows -

The Phantom of the Opera - This is easily the longest running Broadway show ever. It deserves a special mention as it got a Broadway tix for this show. Thousands of people from New York and all over the world throngs to see this great show - The Phantom of the Opera. It has been running for 21 straight years and each one runs to full capacity. The champion of the story is a disfigured manew who is in love with a beautiful girl in the Paris Opera House. He teaches her the art of beautiful singing. The Lion King - This needs no introduction and let me tell you that getting tickets for this show is really hard indeed. It is the longest running musical and the show has already won a number of awards. Cats - This is a beautiful play of Jellicle Cat's life. This is also one of the longest running shows of Broadway which has been staged not only in New York but in places around the globe. The show has been translated into more than 20 languages. Needless to say, the above-mentioned 3 shows are by far the best the Broadway has ever seen. But it does not in any way belittle the other shows that have been played in Broadway over the years. People who come to New York sometimes take an impromptu decision to watch a show at Broadway but this last minute decision does not leave any choice for tickets for a person. To make matters worse the show can be a sell out. So it always helps to plan before coming to Broadway.

You can get tickets for the Broadway shows at proper or discounted prices without much hassle. There are a number of ways to get tickets for the Broadway shows. If you are buying well in advance then you can directly purchase tickets from Broadway ticket counter. The ticket counter is located at the box office. You can also get your tickets through authorized brokers. The chances of getting the tickets are very high but be ready to shell out a heavy price for these tickets.

As a last resort you can turn to the internet. There will be a number of tickets on sale in the internet. These tickets are put up by people who are unable to go to the Broadway show. You can get such information on forums or if you are lucky you can get a discount code to buy a Broadway ticket. But whatever is the mode of your purchase don't leave the buying of your tickets till the last moment.

Examples of a Hostile Work Environment

Examples of a Hostile Work Environment

Hostile work environment would mean a man or group feeling harassed, abused or discriminated by their colleagues or superiors at work. They feel stressed and cannot perform to the best of their potential in such unfriendly surroundings. Employees could be harassed by a third party linked to the society like contractors, suppliers or clients also.

Circumstances at work that can be termed hostile comprise verbal abuse by a superior, sexual harassment by colleague or senior, discrimination based on age, gender or race, or threat to be inflicted bodily harm. Any remark, joke or comment is carefully hostile if it can be termed offensive by any uncostly person.

A senior who does not take performance against a man who is complained about can also be termed as an abettor of such harassment.

In many cases, one gets harassed on being a whistle blower against any malpractice in the organization. Tasking working hours more than stipulated, cutting on their work hours or salaries, putting pressures on them by threatening them with bodily or mental harm are a few ways of harassment. The complainant is stressed to such an extent that he/she volunteers to resign from the society rescue the firm its repute, a probable lawsuit or unemployment benefits to the complainant.

An society must have clearly defined firm rules on defining harassments, course for such reporting and redress the complainant's grievances. They must also have an eagle's eye to get offenders and punish them suitably. They must prohibit passage to offensive sites at work-places and transfer of e-mails or messages which can be carefully hostile.

Beyond the G-Spot- Secrets of the Female Human Body & The U Spot

Beyond the G-Spot- Secrets of the Female Human Body & The U Spot

There has much been written about the G-Spot (named after its discoverer, Grafenburg). It is an area within the woman's vagina that, when stimulated, can bring intense pleasure.

Now due to the advances in non-invasive anatomical investigation with MRIs, CAT scanners, and other highly sensitive investigative instruments, the human form is revealing more of its secrets.

Here we examine two newly discovered pleasure areas within the general area of the female genital zone.

The U-Spot.

The U-spot is a small area of highly sensitive erectile tissue located just above and on both sides of the urethral opening.

Some American clinical researchers have recently discovered this aera, and proved that if it was stimulated by caress, with the tongue, the head of the penis, or even a lubricated finger, it brought an unexpected and highly intense erotic response.

This is not the urithiral opening, but just above and to ether side of it.

There is no U-spot underneath the urithra towards the vagina. Care should be taken when attempting to stimulate it, and ask for feedback from your partner.

The Anterior Fornix Erogenous Zone (also known as the A-Spot or
T-Spot ,or just AFE)

Recently a Malaysian physician reported the existence of a highly sensitive erotic area just above the cervix, at the innermost point of the vagina. The cervix is a part of the uterus that extends slightly into the vagina.

As it so extends, it leaves a depressed circular area, technically called the anterior fornix. Tests have shown that pressure on this area causes the vagina to lubricate very quickly.

In fact, direct stimulation of the AFE zone can cause immediate and profound contractions only found in orgasm. Some anatomists say the AFE zone is really a evolutionary degenerated prostate, homologous to a man's prostate gland that would be located in just about the same place.

The AFE - Zone and Erotic Pleasure

Technically, the AFE Zone is a vortex of the nerves that carry information from your whole genital to the spinal cord and brain. These nerves, when stimulated, send arousal signals to the part of your nervous system which enhances engorgement of appropriate areas, ans is responsible then for sexual arousal.

This is also true for women that normally are not sexually responsive.
Obviously the most easy way to locate the AFE zone is to slide the fingers halfway up the posterior vaginal wall you will find a larger area than the G-spot, which is slightly rougher than the normal vaginal wall.

Recently specially shaped vibrators (long, then and with the neck bent in an oblique way) have come onto the marketplace which are meant for self-stimulation of the AFE zone.

Size Matters?

This is long-standing debate on the benefits or deficiencies of a large and long penis. In the case of the AFE zone, no matter the size of a man's penis, he must be experienced to find, and then stimulate the AFE zone.

For the man with a shorter penis, there are some advantagous positions to shorten the woman's uterous, and thus still find a way to stimulate the AFE zone as well.

The use of the advanced missionary, where the woman will have her legs drawn to her breast, with the man's arms both holding her legs apart, and suspending himself, will create, even if he is short and small of penile stature, complete penetration and stimulation of the AFE zone.

Due to small depression at its location, and roughness of the area, it also provides some intense pleasure for the man as well.

Prayer and Holy Water - The Reason and the Force Behind Them

Prayer and Holy Water - The Reason and the Force Behind Them

Will prayer and holy water work for you? I have asked myself the same question so many times in the past, that I got tired of asking. I simply went for it many years ago, and I 'let the chips fall where they may.' When you have some belief, or absolutely no belief in prayer and holy water, that's okay! I had to develop my belief in both by the process of 'walking on faith and not by sight'-- to paraphrase the words of the apostle St. Paul. Others may be coming to terms with their religion of birth; or are currently in the process of finding themselves through meditation and spirituality; and perhaps the use of prayer, and especially holy water, is a new concept. Hopefully, this article will bring to light a new perspective on both subjects which may serve you in your life.

Belief in praying just doesn't come over night; but in due course it will manifest itself through your actions, and by the results that you will obtain. Prayers alone will require your devotion to them on a regular basis. With holy water your objective is to try it out. Your belief in its inherent power to heal, bless and to protect will become clear over a period of time. Your faith in holy water will grow to the point that you will discuss it with family and friends; and confidently never fail to use it for the blessing and the safeguarding of your loved ones--even your house, your pets and the vehicles that you drive, if you want to.

I always say that life is not to be played around with, and especially when children are involved. We want to take care of them and watch over them as much as possible; but sometimes we can't always be there for them at every second of the day. Our best alternative is to hand them over to God for his safekeeping; while they live their lives from infancy, and right on to old age.

Just the other day, I was walking back to my Explorer after getting a coffee at Starbucks near where I live. I thought I saw my trunk door wide open, but it turned out to be the SUV next to mine in the parking lot. I greeted the lady owner, who happened to be loading the trunk of her SUV with groceries from the supermarket. She had a little girl with her; and when I looked at her she appeared not to be feeling well. I found the little girl a bit sad, but maybe because it was still early in the morning. I asked her mom, who appeared friendly and talkative. She went on to explain to me that her youngest daughter--the little girl's sister--had just recently passed away. I asked how old was the girl, and she said nineteen months-old. Just a baby!

The tiny tot crawled to the swimming pool, right from the family room where she was left sitting on a sofa, and the gate was open on the guard-fence. In that short span of time, while her mom was retrieving the groceries from her SUV, the child was gone forever. She drowned, and no one could bring her back to life. That precious child became an organ donor to three families. Her very short life was not lived in vain.

1) Why do we need to pray?

My story of the infant is a very sad but true incident. We pray so that we allow for God to take over our lives, and especially that of our loved ones. We simply can't control all events, elements, and those tragic moments that can easily occur in a flash. God is the only one that can provide divine intervention to save a life. We also pray so that parents who lose their children can find solace in knowing that their loved ones are now in the arms of God.

People sometimes take the attitude that: "What the heck, we're going to die anyway someday!" Yes, that's true, but I don't see too many people rushing to get to heaven! We know it is paradise, according to the Scriptures, but living on Earth is also paradise, if we choose to make it so. A life is such a short-term event, that even if we can live to be one hundred years-old, it's still not long enough for some people, especially if they are having a wonderful time. It's the body that gives up functioning, either from disease or old age, not the spirit. No one wants to go prematurely, so we pray for health, a happy life, and a long life.

You may be someone who truly doesn't believe in praying; and you probably have no notion of what holy water can do for you. Then let me help you with more facts and events on the magnificent powers of prayer and holy water.

2) Why it is important to sprinkle holy water on people and personal vehicles

My youngest son was on I95, a major highway that extends the entire East Coast of the U.S. It is one of the busiest highways, and most dangerous also, especially when it rains. A few months back while he was driving his Jeep Cherokee back from work one evening, a tire blew up, and his truck careened across the highway totally out-of-control. It was a rainy night. One car driving at 70 mph avoided hitting him, and that car went off the highway into a ravine, and it flipped over a few times before landing upside down. Another vehicle was able to slow down and still hit the Jeep, but with less force and impact. My son survived the accident, and so did the other parties. His Jeep was blessed with holy water a few years back; and I bless him via his photo on my laptop every day by signing the cross over his face with holy water.

3) The effective use of holy water for injuries--even for the eyes

I mountain bike regularly, and last month I got into a serious spin right on the trail. I went flying in mid-air onto bushes, rocks, small tree branches and lake water. Anything lives in those waters; including moccasin snakes, alligators, iguanas, and other critters. No one was around to help me out. I extricated myself from the spot that I was tangled in, and got right back on the trail. It took me a good thirty minutes to do so. When I returned to my Explorer, my left eye was red as a cherry. I must have poked it with a branch. For the next seven days I tried washing it with running water, using eye drops and putting antibiotic cream. Every thing that I tried putting on irritated my eye, and nothing seemed to work. I was also beginning to get severe headaches; probably from straining my eyes. By the eight day, I resorted to my 'holy water treatment' and the eye cured itself in exactly three days of its use. Now, when my eyes are tired, I place holy water on the eyelids, and not inside the eye. Remember, dab holy water on the upper and lower eyelids of both eyes, whenever you need to.

4) Praying and waiting for answers. How long does it take?

We all pray and wait for answers, and sometimes we get frustrated for lack of success. In fact, many despair and forget to follow-up with their prayers. I have prayed for many requests in my life, and few have ever been answered. Why is that? Maybe the requests weren't that urgent or important, but I made them anyway. Other times, I have prayed for something, only to get my answer weeks, and sometimes months later.

I have compared prayers answered to a faucet which is slowly opened in heaven; and one drop after another painful drop falls onto a glass. Days and weeks may go by and we see no results at all. And then one day, the glass is full of water, meaning: the prayer has been answered. Where is the petitioner when prayers are answered? He is no longer around, for he has given up on prayer; saying out-loud, prayer just doesn't work for me! So he goes thirsty; in the meanwhile, the glass is brimming with water and he's holding it right in his hand.

God is the only one that controls the flow of the water, and only He holds the 'handle to the faucet.' It is His will that measures the speed that the water will pour from the faucet onto the waiting glass of the petitioner. Our job is to be patient and wait faithfully. Here is where faith in God goes a long, long way.

I know that this explanation might seem very simplistic to many--or even dumb for that matter; but to me it explains many questions in my mind. Believing that prayers are answered is one of our greatest struggles in life. I know, for I went through a lot of praying to come to the conclusion that they are in fact answered, but not according to our timing, but instead to God's own schedule. We can't rush Him, and neither can we push Him. That's why He is God!

5) The reason and the force behind prayer and holy water

Does God determine the day and the hour that we will die? You may want to ask this question of clergy, and see what the correct answer is. I prefer to believe that God leaves that issue alone; and instead, He allows the natural course of events and unknown circumstances here on Earth to determine the time of our death.

I also believe that God knows everything about us at all moments of the day and night. However, I feel that although He knows when we are going to die, He doesn't point His finger at anyone individually on a day to day basis, and says, "All right, today is your day, tomorrow is going to be yours, and this is the way that it will be done." Many people would agree with that statement, including clergy that I know in my church, but I certainly don't.

I think that God leaves us alone to live our lives; therefore, leaving us subject to the risks and the dangers of the natural elements, e.g., thunderstorms, rain, snow, and many other extraordinary possibilities that we face every day. It is the inherent price that we pay for being members of the human race. No ifs, ands or buts about it!

Give you an example: not too long ago a neighbor of mine mentioned to me the recent accidental death of a doctor friend of hers crossing Brickell Ave. in Miami, Florida. He was going to lunch with his other doctor friends; and he happened to step first onto the pedestrian crosswalk. He was struck by a pick-up truck that missed the red light; and the driver hit him with full force and at high speed. The doctor might have looked to his left before crossing, but he failed to anticipate the incoming truck not stopping at all. The doctor was killed instantly.

I mentioned the incident with the nineteen month-old infant for a reason. Absolutely no one was around and available to save her life at the moment that she fell in the pool. Sadly, her parents will have to live through that tragedy for the rest of their lives. But I feel the pain more deeply for the mother, who will forever think that she could have done something to save her child's life; either by having been more careful or watchful.

Here's my point: If, like some people believe, God determines the day and the hour that we will die--by whatever method He chooses our death--is it fair that an innocent baby dies by accident, and then be literally taken away from her parents, knowing full well the horrible loss and unbearable pain that her death would bring to the family? Would God do this on purpose? Why, in order to avoid that child further pain later on in her life--had the drowning never occurred?

What about the doctor who was killed by the truck? He was forty years-old, and at the prime of his life and career, married with family. I don't think that God can be so cruel to have taken his life; and not be concerned and feel compassion for his family of the terrible grief and sorrow that this act would rein upon them! Did God design the fatal accident by making the doctor alone cross the street ahead of his colleagues?

We are taught to believe that God is a God of love; and by being cruel, unfair and unjust to His children, He is not the God that I have lived all these years to believe in. On the other hand, if God leaves all of His children to chance, and to face life with all its elements--which is what I prefer to believe in; then we need to pray to Him to give us protection, because in reality we have no one else with the power to do it for us. He is the One that can intervene to save a life, and only if He wishes to do so. Therein lies the reason and the force behind prayer and holy water. We didn't create these two elements--they were created by God for us to be used at our liberty.

The reason for using prayer is to open and maintain a line of communication with our creator, and that's God. That line is there for us to ask Him to spare a life, our own if needed, protect the children from accidents, cure the sick, and bring relief when we are feeling down. The force behind it is in our degree of conviction, faith and commitment to stick with our petitions; and not walk away while the prayer or prayers are in the process of being considered.

Are prayers answered after all? Yes, definitely, all prayers are answered with a Yes, No, or Later! I know this for a fact because I have made hundreds of petitions over the years praying to God, and few of my prayers have ever been answered. However, allow me to clarify myself; the prayers that were indeed answered were the most important ones of all. The rest didn't really matter, because they were either deemed irrelevant, or I just forgot what I asked for. Perhaps heaven did the same also, probably for my own benefit.

It is of major importance that we don't underestimate the power of prayer to deliver, and for holy water to produce results. I have discussed this subject many times in my previous articles, and it is critical that we ask God to take care of us; but most importantly, our loved ones. God hears, and God delivers. Holy water will not be wasted on you and your loved ones if you decide to use it. Believe in the force and the power behind prayers; and have faith that holy water does what it is intended to do, and that is: to bless, to heal and to protect you and your loved ones, while you and they go about your daily lives.

Edgar Cayce on Soul Mates

Edgar Cayce on Soul Mates

Almost every person feels a longing for companionship. At times we may understand this desire as a directive toward union with God, and at other times, as a desire for union with another person.

Two ideas come together in the material from the Edgar Cayce readings concerning the choice of a companion-particularly a life partner. First is the principle that we are here in the earth for the purpose of growth and development in consciousness. What is more, associations with some individuals are more conducive to growth than associations with others; therefore, it is prudent to choose carefully our companions. This principle is probably easy for us to accept if we merely reflect on the types of influence various friends and acquaintances have had on us in the past. The impact is most powerful in a marriage relationship, and a good union should be founded upon a shared purpose in life and the capacity to help each other to grow.

The second principle relates to reincarnation: We as spiritual beings (or souls) experience our growth in consciousness through a series of lifetimes in physical human form. In other words, we have been in the earth many times before, and more specifically have had close personal relationships with particular souls. Attraction to another person and thoughts of marriage could very likely be related to memory patterns (even subconscious memories!) of having been with that soul in the distant past. In the readings, Cayce suggested that, often, we are attracted to a particular person for marriage in this lifetime because of such a relationship at least once before.

But if reincarnation is a fact, we might expect that we have been married to many souls in the course of other incarnations. Which one of these partnerships is the best one to build upon now, in this life? Does each person have exactly one other special soul that it is meant to be with whenever possible?

Many sources of psychic information and other metaphysical teachings have proposed concepts such as "soul mate" and "twin soul." The Cayce readings, although simultaneously raising some provocative questions, do shed some light on this topic.

In the beginning, as was outlined, there was presented that that became as the Sons of God, in that male and female were as one... Reading 364-7

A fundamental issue is the very nature of the soul. Is it male or female? Both or neither? The readings propose that the soul itself does not have gender.

However, in order to learn and grow, a soul enters into the physical domain (which is characterized by such polarities as light/dark, positive/negative, thinking/feeling, etc.) and chooses to incarnate in a male or female expression. Likely, in the long-range growth of the soul over many incarnations, male and female experiences are needed. In selecting one gender over the other in a particular lifetime, a condition is usually created in which a balance or complement is needed, such as can be found in a marriage companion. This is not to say that important spiritual growth is impossible during a life without marriage; rather, the marriage relationship is one great avenue for development.

Perhaps this pattern of growth has not always been the usual way. Some readings suggest that in ancient prehistory, such as the times of Atlantis more than 12,000 years ago, a soul could incarnate in such a way that male and female qualities were manifested simultaneously. It is not clear what form the physical body took in these cases. One person was told in a reading about an Atlantean incarnation: "for then both male and female might be-desired so-in one." (288-27)

What, then, is a soul mate? Is it the soul that one has married in the most incarnations? Frequency of marriage may be one factor because, according to Cayce, status as soul mates is built by shared physical experiences over a long period. However, a more precise understanding is this: A soul mate is a complement to oneself. One reading poetically describes it as "the tongue to the groove, the tenon to the mortise..." (1556-2) It is more than merely a physical attraction; it is a capacity to help each other at the physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

Another interpretation of the term "soul mates" was offered by Hugh Lynn Cayce, who was present for a number of the readings his father gave on this subject. He wrote: "The idea of soul mates and affinities is closely related to the theory of reincarnation as explained through the Edgar Cayce readings. Two souls may, in a number of incarnations, grow very close together in their pattern of spiritual evolution. These souls will need the help and assistance of each other as they evolve and hence, in any one incarnation, will be drawn closely together because of their many past associations and the intricate entwining of their respective personalities."

Status as soul mates is also a matter of ideals. One important passage stated: "Such as have in an experience found an ideal may be said to be soul mates, and no marriages [are] made in heaven nor by the Father save as each do His biddings." (275-38)

These criteria suggest that one could have more than a solitary soul mate, although such a fact is not explicitly spelled out in any Cayce reading. However, we should, no doubt, be cautious about leaving a current marriage partner merely because of an attraction to someone else. In all likelihood, the very same problems and "opportunities" we are currently facing would be the same regardless of which partner we have in our lives-in relationships we most often come to terms with those things we need to work on in ourselves, even though we might sometimes think of our partner as being the source of our frustration. Those who come across the idea of soul mates after having already married can still rest assured that their partner is, in fact, a "soul mate."

For those who are single and who would like to find their soul mate, what do the Cayce readings have to offer?

First, they suggest choosing someone who will help you to a "more helpful, more sustaining, more the well-rounded life..." (364-7) In modern language, we might say that we are looking for someone who has the "right vibrations" for us. In fact, this is a phrase used in the readings in describing the kind of experience that might be felt between soul mates: "with the union of two that vibrate or respond to those vibrations in self..." (364-7) Together, the two would assist one another in finding a balanced life.

But even if we find someone who fits these criteria-someone who is perhaps a soul mate-this does not guarantee a good marriage. The two will still have to work together in order for the great potential of the relationship to flower. This is what the readings seemed to suggest in the following question-and-answer exchange. We might assume that the question, in effect, asked whether or not these two people were soul mates.

Q. Is this girl the type and quality of womanhood best suited to this man for a successful life? A. May be made so in each. No one is suited exactly in the beginning, unless it has been fore-ordained through the ages of the mating of each. (Reading 257-15)

The final statement is not clearly explained. We might understand "fore-ordained" to include a choice made by the two souls before being born this time, or it may relate to very strong bonds built over many lifetimes of being married (i.e., "the mating of each").

A concept similar to that of soul mates is "twin souls." When Cayce used this term in the readings, he did not mean to imply that two souls were identical. Instead, it is two souls sharing a common purpose or ideal. They would not necessarily have had previous marriage incarnations. In other words, the soul-mate condition is largely built in the material plane of experience (although, as previously mentioned, it has mental and spiritual components beyond just sexual attraction). However, the twin-soul condition evolves more from a commonality in the nonmaterial realm-at the idea or ideal level.

One example of twin souls, according to the Cayce readings, is Jesus and His mother, Mary. One reading states: "In the beginning Mary was the twin-soul of the Master in the entrance into the earth!" (5749-8)

Finally, we might ask ourselves, "Where does this subject of soul mates and twin souls lead us? Is our destiny to find and be reunited with some other special soul?" Such is not the point of view in the Cayce material. They refer to Jesus' teaching that, in the heavenly kingdom, we are neither married nor given in marriage. As helpful as marriage relationships may be in the earth, beyond this material domain, it is our destiny to find wholeness within our own souls. If one must think in terms of being destined to ultimate union with some other soul, then think of that other soul as the Christ Soul. One reading made the point this way: "But know, the soul is rather the soul-mate of the universal consciousness than of an individual entity." (2988-2)

The principle of soul mates and twin souls are, therefore, potentially both helpful and misleading. These concepts can help us understand some of the key factors in making a wise choice of a marriage partner and can remind us that some relationships are tremendous storehouses of love and helpfulness which can be reawakened. However, these concepts can be misleading if we forget that our ultimate companion is the Christ, or if we are tempted to leave the responsibilities of relationships to which we have already committed ourselves in this lifetime.
